Youth Climate Story: Hurricane Sandy in Far Rockaway
Hurricane Sandy struck New York City and surrounding areas on October 29, 2012. The storm was one of the costliest storms in history, flooding many parts of New York City’s boroughs and even the subway system. Annie, a Fellow with the Alliance for Climate Education (ACE), and her family are from Far Rockaway. Their home was destroyed during Sandy and they are still reeling from the devastation years after the storm hit. This is what climate change looks like. Here is her story.
