Climate Education Presenter - Atlanta, Georgia

Mariah Koch is the Atlanta Climate Education Presenter for the Our Climate Our Future Program. Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, she has had first hand experience seeing the effects of climate injustice permeate through cities and how important social and climate justice advocacy can be. They graduated from the University of Oregon with a B.A. in Geography, International Studies, and Global Health with an interest in how people and their environments shape each other.

They are passionate about the intersection between holistic wellness and creativity when it comes to people, their communities, and their environments. This really came to the forefront during her study abroad experience in Buenos Aires, Argentina where she studied public health in urban, suburban, and rural environments while exploring artistic endeavors.

Before coming to ACE, Mariah has been a docent at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens for kindergarteners on field trips, a children’s summer art instructor at a local museum, and an emotional support specialist for natural disaster-related stress and ailments in Oregon. And in high school, she worked at Zoo Atlanta for two years to raise awareness about habitat preservation! With this rich background in education, the environment, and mental support she brings a unique perspective to the climate education space that both raises awareness and embraces personal expression. Her goal is to keep learning from and presenting to large audiences about the different modalities of personal and environmental healing.

In their free time, you can find them camping and hiking, painting and drawing, or spending more time learning about the wonderful world around them.
